Jive Hotel is a 20’s inspired, jazz music themed hotel. I wanted the branding to evoke a classy, old-fashioned feel without being dated, and to exude energy and fun.
The logo represents the texture of jazz music, in which contrasting sounds and rhythms are often juxtaposed or layered. The logo also utilizes the Art Deco technique of creating diagonal energy. I chose typefaces specifically to fit the 20s vibe. Kabel was created in the 20s and Market Deco is styled after Art Deco trends from that era. Using only stark black and white keeps the designs looking sharp and classy, and is reminiscent of piano keys and printed musical charts.
